Hesperia, San Bernardino County
Hesperia lies at the top of the Cajon Pass, at about 3,200 feet in the Victor Valley. The town was promoted in the 1880s as a farm colony along the Santa Fe railroad, but it stayed small until the freeway brought commuters, and it became a city in 1988. The California Aqueduct crosses the city on its way south.
